The island of the Gods is abundant with nature’s wonders. As its nickname suggests, Bali is blessed with natural landscape that needs to be experienced to be truly appreciated. One of the best ways to admire and appreciate its beauty is to get up close and do hiking onto one of the many trails and mountains and hills in Bali.

Mount Batur

Mount Batur is perhaps the nearest location where you can do a proper hike in a day’s trip. It is a popular destination for those who want to catch the sunrise and admire the distant sunlight as it gradually adds color to the sky.

It is highly recommended to go on this hike with a credible tour guide. The guide will also know the ideal timings for the hike as well as the different trail routes so you don’t run into other crowds, or get lost.

The routes up Mount Batur range in terms of difficulty ranging from a light hike following a dedicated trail, to a tougher and inclined hike that involves a bit more exercise.

Campuhan Ridge Walk

If you prefer a moderate, relaxing hike we highly recommend you visit the Campuhan Ridge Walk in Ubud. The hiking trail is clearly defined with moderate incline.

This hike is most notable for its scenic, hilltop views of the lush vegetation as you climb your way towards the top of the hill.

Tirta Gangga

The maze of pools located within Tirta Gangga is one of the most beautiful sights to see in Bali. In addition to the temple however, there are many streams around Tirta Gangga that can be explored with a bit of light hiking.

The best times to hike the area would be just as the sunrises as the sunlight hits the rice fields and terraces that makes for a picturesque scenery.

Whether you’re up for an endearing hike up the mountain, or just looking for a moderate stroll around the hills in Bali there is something for everyone in the island of the Gods.

Located by the cultural heart of Gianyar, Mara River Safari Lodge is located within close proximity to many popular hiking locations in Bali.
